Welcome to the Sideshow
The Flash circus is in town again and everyone is enjoying the great performers and trainers. After marvelling at breathtaking code taming and visual artistry it is time to visit the sideshow where you will find some of the rather strange and obscure attractions. Mario will present a menagerie of freak ideas that he discovered during his expeditions into the depths of the Flash Platform, ranging from tiny performance tricks to beautiful generative visuals. Once again he will show his latest sketches and experiments mixing mathematics, science and art with pixels, vectors and ActionScript.
Mario Klingemann alias Quasimondo is what you get when you cross the analytic mind of a coder with the creative fervor of an artist and add a little bit of mad scientist mentality to the mix.
In his aim to surprise himself and his audience he constantly tries to explore uncharted territories in order to discover unseen beauty and unthought ideas. A key factor in his work is the drive to overcome limitations by creatively repurposing and recombining objects and revealing their hidden qualities.
His creations have been exhibited in international art shows and won acclaim among critics as exemplary pieces of net art. Pieces like Mona Tweeta, Clockr, Tagnautica, Minority Cube or Flickeur have made their way into uncounted best-of lists and were featured in many articles.
He enjoys sharing his explorations and discoveries on design and technology at conferences worldwide and is lead computational artisan at Aviary.com.
